Oman / Oman Parameters
Oman Parameters (Settings)
The Oman rates and dates that payroll uses are settings in Odoo, not program code. A user with accounting rights changes them, and every change is logged.
Only a user with accounting rights in Odoo changes these settings. The customer cannot change them in the portal. Every change is recorded.
Why the settings are in Odoo
Oman changes its rates and dates from time to time: the Social Protection Fund rates, the start of the savings scheme, the sick pay tiers. These values are not written in the program. They are settings that you change in Odoo on the day the rule changes, without waiting for a new version.
Who can change them
| Right | Groups |
|---|---|
| Read and change a value | Invoicing / Administrator, Employees / Administrator, Administration / Settings |
| Read the change log | The same three groups. The log cannot be edited or deleted. |
If your menu does not show Oman parameters, your user lacks these rights. See Odoo Overview.
Where to find them
Invoicing > Configuration > Oman parameters. The list shows each parameter with a plain description and its value.
Change a value
- Open Invoicing > Configuration > Oman parameters.
- Open the parameter and type the new value. Save.
- Open Oman parameter changes and check that your change is listed with the old value, the new value, your name and the time.
- Create payroll batches after the change. A payslip already confirmed keeps the values it was calculated with.
Odoo checks the type of the value, so a typing error cannot stop payroll: a number for a rate, a date written YYYY-MM-DD, and tiers written days:percent (for example 21:100,35:75). A value that is the right type but the wrong amount is accepted, because the system sets no limits. Read the instrument twice.
The change log
Invoicing > Configuration > Oman parameter changes keeps one line for each change: the parameter key, the old value, the new value, the user and the time. Why: if a payslip is questioned, you can show which rate applied on which date and who set it.

Portal settings
A few settings belong to the portal and sit on the server. You cannot change them in Odoo. Ask FiscFort support.
| Setting | Value now | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| PORTAL_WEEKEND_DAYS | 4,5 | Weekend days: Friday and Saturday. |
| CASH_JOURNAL_ID | CSH1 | Journal for cash takings. |
| CARD_JOURNAL_ID | BNK1 | Journal for card takings. |
Public holidays are not a setting. Oman announces them late and their length is not known, so the customer marks the days in the portal under HR > Holidays. See Payroll.
Other lists you keep
- Zero-rated tariff codes (Invoicing > Configuration): add or deactivate codes when the Tax Authority changes its lists. See VAT in Odoo.
- Asset Profiles (Invoicing > Configuration > Assets): the asset account, depreciation accounts, number of years and method for each kind of asset. The lives set at setup are placeholders. The owner confirms them.
- Bank line rules (Invoicing > Configuration): text patterns that match repeated bank lines to a partner and an account. See Daily and Month-End Routine.
