Tax reports for your accountant

These prepare figures for returns. They are reports only. Nothing is booked or sent.

ReportWhat it is for
Capital Asset VAT AdjustmentYearly VAT correction on fixed assets. See Fixed Assets.
Excise Tax ReportExcise estimate for tobacco, pork products, alcohol and drinks. It is an estimate, not the return.
Income Tax ComputationProfit from the books, adjustments, taxable income, tax at 15% (or 3% for a small establishment) and the return due date.
Input VAT CheckPosted bills whose input VAT may not qualify: no supplier VAT number, no original document, or a type of cost that may be blocked.
VAT Refund and Partial ExemptionDeduction ratio, annual adjustment, and whether a refund claim above OMR 100 is possible.
Withholding Tax10% withholding on payments to non-resident suppliers, with the due date.

Statutory Filings tab

VAT return

Choose the dates (a quarter) to see the VAT return boxes: 1a, 1b, 1c, 2b, 3a, 4a, 4b, 6a and 6b with base and VAT, then total VAT due, input VAT credit and net payable. Boxes 5b, 6c and 6d (adjustments and VAT on fixed assets) are typed in on this page. Your accountant keys the figures into the Tax Authority portal. Nothing is submitted for you.

Social Protection Fund

Shows what is due for the month and gives the Social Protection Fund report, with each employee's wages and contributions, as PDF, Excel or CSV in English or Arabic.

Withholding tax on non-residents

Tick the foreign suppliers whose payments carry 10% withholding tax. The Withholding Tax report then lists their bills and the amount to pay.

Upcoming deadlines

The next eight due dates, with days left (red up to 7 days, amber up to 30): VAT return and payment (30 days after the quarter), Social Protection Fund (15th of next month), salary transfer through WPS (3 days after month end) and the income tax return (30 April for a year ending 31 December).

Invoice copies (ZIP)

Download invoice copies (ZIP) gives every posted customer invoice, vendor bill and credit note of a period as its uploaded document, in folders, with an index. Use it when the Tax Authority asks to inspect your records. An invoice with no uploaded document is listed in the index as no file.

Records for inspection

The law asks you to keep books and invoices for 10 years and to give an Arabic version on request. Posted entries cannot be changed. Use Journal Entries, General Ledger and the ZIP for an inspection.

For accountants

  • The VAT return is calculated from the tax tags, because Odoo Community cannot run its own VAT Return report. Odoo's 27-line layout matches the Tax Authority boxes. Boxes 1d, 1e, 2a (GCC reverse charge) are not active in Oman and not shown; 1f (profit margin scheme) is not supported. Not yet validated against a filed quarter.
  • Deduction ratio = taxable supplies (1a, 1b, 3a) ÷ taxable plus exempt supplies, to 3 decimals (Reg Art 59). The annual adjustment (Reg Art 60) is shown for a full calendar year. Positive goes to box 6d and negative to box 5b.
  • Withholding tax follows Income Tax Law Art 113 and is remitted by the 14th of the following month (Art 52 bis). Payment types excluded by Reg Art 4 bis 1 (conferences, training, freight, insurance, flights) are decided per supplier, not per bill line.
  • Income tax: donations limit (5% of gross income, Reg Art 33) is calculated. Salaries above the limit, bad debts, related-party interest, other non-deductible expenses, exempt income and losses brought forward are typed in. Tax depreciation is not recomputed. There is no form 17 layout.
  • Excise: the return layout and the excise base (retail price) are not verified, so the figure is an estimate.
  • Each report has a limit of 50,000 rows.
  • Balance Sheet: Equity carries the line Result to date (income less expenses). The result is cumulative to the report date, with no split between previous years and the current year. A liability can show negative when payments were posted before the bills.
  • The Late Tax Invoices report compares the invoice date with the supply date (the delivery date, else the invoice date), or with a payment received before the supply.
