Oman / Odoo Overview

Odoo for Accountants

Your customers work in the portal. You, the accountant, work in Odoo, the accounting system behind it. This section explains what to do there, and why.

Why you work in Odoo

The portal is made for the customer. It takes documents, takings and staff hours, and it shows reports. Decisions that need accounting rights are made in Odoo: tax settings, payroll rates, confirming payslips, reconciling bank lines and fixing documents the system could not post.

Working in Odoo has one more advantage. Every change is recorded under a named user, so the books can be explained to an auditor or to the Tax Authority.

How to open Odoo

  1. Open the Odoo web address you were sent. The same address is sent to the customer. You can also open Odoo from your account at my.fiscfort.com.
  2. Sign in with your own Odoo user. Do not use the customer's portal login.
  3. Odoo works in English and in Arabic. Choose your language in your Odoo preferences (click your name, then Preferences).

Use your own user, never a shared one. The Audit Trail shows who did what, and the parameter change log shows who changed a rate.

Menu names in this section are written in English, as they appear in Odoo.

What your user needs

Odoo gives rights through groups. These are the groups used in this section:

Working rules

  • A posted entry is final. Correct a mistake with a credit note or a reversing entry, never by deleting.
  • Nothing is sent to any authority automatically. You file every return yourself.
  • Keep the supplier's original document. The law asks for the original tax invoice to deduct VAT.
  • Books are kept in Omani rials (OMR), with three decimals.
